With and without motorPleasure biking and mountain biking

Cycling in the land of a thousand mountains - it works perfectly. No matter whether you prefer to pedal leisurely or to get your pulse and adrenaline pumping.

With the Golddorf-Radroute (49 km), Lenneroute (150 km) and the SauerlandRadring (83 km), the Schmallenberg Sauerland and the vacation region Eslohe offer routes for pleasure cyclists and families. The Lenneroute and the Sauerland Cycle Ring are well surfaced and only moderately uphill and can also be ridden without electric drive.

Our service for youRental bikes and e-bikes

If you need assistance with headwinds or inclines, you can borrow an e-bike, free of charge for our house guests, of course. Equipped with a quiet, environmentally friendly electric motor that can be switched on at the push of a button, these bikes make cycling trips possible for everyone and also compensate for differences in physical condition of differently trained people on joint cycling trips. So that they become an experience close to nature for all - without puffing and aching muscles.

Reserve your rental bikes at the reception. A detailed introduction to their use is of course included in the rental.

Much to discoverCycling routes

Golddorf Cycle Route

Get to know the diversity of the seven golden villages of the Schmallenberg Sauerland. There is a lot to discover on 49 kilometres: pretty half-timbered villages with imposing churches and impressive scenery await you if you follow the golden route label. The "goldiest" corners of the Schmallenberg Sauerland with the golden villages of Lenne, Fleckenberg, Grafschaft, Oberkirchen, Westfeld, Niedersorpe and Holthausen also entice you with cosy restaurants that invite you to stop for a bite to eat. So you have the opportunity to rest often, e.g. to recover from the demanding ascent to a total of 638 metres in altitude. On this tour you can discover the original Sauerland and enjoy the surrounding nature to the full.

A guided bike tour on the Golddorf bike route can be booked as a culinary e-bike tour. A special course of a culinary Schmallenberg round trip awaits you in each gold village on this tour.

Kinderland Trekking Route

This scenic cycling route invites sporty families to cycle approx. 52 km across the Schmallenberg Sauerland. Should the little bikers "run out of breath" on the way, the route can be shortened as desired at four intersections. The route has been chosen in such a way that it passes as many of the most beautiful playgrounds and mini-golf courses as possible, which invite you to take an enjoyable break. Or you can stop off at one of the restaurants along the way. The Kinderland trekking route passes directly by our hotel.

Lenneroute

From the source of the Lenne on the Kahler Asten to the Hengsteysee on the edge of the Ruhr area, the Lenneroute follows the course of the Lenne for over 142 km. On the tour to the mouth of the Lenne you pass castles and palaces, which provide ample opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of the region. But also interesting products of the industrial culture give a revealing insight into the historical development of the region. Towards the end of the route, the route passes more and more through towns and cities and the cyclist gets an impression of the pulsating life of the Ruhr area. The last part of the route provides relaxation. On quiet paths, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, the cyclist reaches the mouth of the Lenne into the Ruhr. The first half of the Lenne route runs mainly on cycle paths and quiet side roads.

Sauerland Radring

Cycling under the sign of the bat: A cycling experience off the road, but still on perfectly asphalted paths: This is what the SauerlandRadring offers on old railway lines.

With a length of 84 kilometres, it appeals above all to touring cyclists and sporty families. Half of the route is also on former railway lines. Finnentrop, Eslohe, Schmallenberg and Lennestadt are the four main towns on the SauerlandRadring. And because of the closed loop - in addition to several other small villages - they are ideal starting points. There is no fixed start and end point, here you can "hop on" at any point - similar to the railway.

The witnesses of the railway past are still partly preserved next to the track: besides old signalling systems and wagons, old steam locomotives can also be marvelled at. And as a special highlight, the famous Kückelheim "bat tunnel" awaits the cyclists.

Due to the routing on former railway tracks it is possible to enjoy the views in the land of a thousand mountains without breaking a sweat. A maximum gradient of 3 % awaits the cyclists on the developed routes.

If you want to stay within the Schmallenberg Sauerland, you have the option of cycling the signposted short version of the SauerlandRadring, which is considerably shorter at 54 km. On the other hand, it is somewhat undulating in parts and is therefore especially recommended for e-bikes.

Rothaar cycle path

Those who like it particularly sporty can cross the Rothaar ridge twice on the Rothaar cycle route and overcome almost 1000 metres in altitude. You will be rewarded with far-reaching views and impressions of two neighbouring regions: the Sauerland and the Wittgensteinerland. The Rothaar cycle route connects the Lenne valley with the Eder valley and uses a section of the Eder cycle path on the southern flank. In addition to the views from the Rothaar ridge, the route offers cultural highlights such as the castle in Bad Berleburg.
